This article will cover how to remove any trace of Soda PDF from your browser. We'll start with disabling notifications (pop ups) and move on to removing the browser extension that gave you a new home page.
Remove the Browser Notifications
We thought we'd start by explaining why you see these popups when you launch your web browser. The first time you came to www.sodapdf.com you would have seen a popup requesting permission to show you notifications.
If you are seeing them, you clicked Allow.
This is a notification tool provided by your web browser. You can easily block these notifications from your browser settings.
- Click on the menu option.
- Choose Settings.
- Search for Content Settings
- Click the arrow in the Content settings section to expand it.
- Click Notifications
- Click on the 3 vertical dots next to each website.
- Choose Block
You will see both sites appear in the Block section. This means you'll stop seeing any popups from our sites.
- Click on the menu icon.
- Choose Options.
- Search for Notifications.
- Click Settings.
- Click on the drop down menu that says Allow.
- Choose Block
- Click Save Changes.
You will no longer see the popups.
Remove Browser Extension (New Homepage)
Before showing you how to remove the browser extension, we wanted to make sure you understood why it's there in the first place.
When you landed on one of our sites you would have seen this popup.
Clicking that button brings you to this page. At this point you clicked Add to Chrome.
At this point a pop up appears to confirm you want to add the extension. Once you clicked Add extension your browser was updated, and you got a new home page.
You should have seen this notification confirming it was added correctly:
Since this an official app in the Chrome store, there is no other way for this to have been added to your system. Removing it as simply a matter of removing the extension.
- Right click on the Soda PDF icon.
- Choose Remove from Chrome.
- Click Remove.
The extension will be removed from your browser.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox you can remove the extension the same way.
- Right click on it.
- Choose Remove Extension.
You'll see a popup confirming you want to remove the extension, once you agree, it will be gone.
