What is the Snapshot Feature?

The snapshot tool is a way to take a screenshot of an area of your PDF.

This article will cover the instructions for the following versions:

 

Soda PDF Desktop

Area Snapshot

  • Open the View Tab.
  • Click Snapshot.
  • Select Area Snapshot.

 

 

  • Select an area you’d like to copy.

 


When you release your mouse button, the item will be copied to your computer’s clipboard. To learn more about copying/pasting click here.

  • Select the Show in Folder option to open a folder with the snapshot made.
  • Select the Open as PDF option to convert your snapshot to PDF and open it in the Soda PDF program.
  • Save As option allows you to specify a name and location for the snapshot to be saved.

 

You can also find your snapshot in the Snapshot section.

  • Click the three dots on any snapshot to access the following options.

 

 

The Area Snapshot tool is also available in the context menu when your application is in the View mode.

  • Right-click anywhere on the document and select Take Snapshot in the context menu.

 

 

Page Snapshot

The Page Snapshot feature will let you capture the contents of an entire page so that you can paste it as an image elsewhere. This will work with pages of any size.

  • Open the View Tab.
  • Click Snapshot.
  • Select Page Snapshot.

 


The page will be copied to your computer’s clipboard. To learn more about copying/pasting click here.

The Snapshot tool is located on the top panel.

 

 

Area Snapshot

The Area Snapshot option allows you to take a snapshot of a specific part of a page.

  • Click on the snapshot icon.
  • Choose Area snapshot in the window that appears.

 

 

Your cursor will change to the snapshot icon.

  • Click and drag your cursor to select an area you’d like to copy.

 

 

  • Your snapshot will be created. You can open it as a PDF or save it.

 

 

You can also find your snapshot in the Snapshots section.

  • Click the three dots on any snapshot to access the Open as PDF, Save as, and Delete options.

 

 

Page Snapshot

The Page Snapshot option will take a snapshot of the whole page of your document.

  • Click on the snapshot icon.
  • Choose Page snapshot in the window that appears.

 

 

  • Your snapshot will be created. You can open it as a PDF or save it.

 

 

You can also find your snapshot in the Snapshots section.

  • Click the three dots on any snapshot to access the Open as PDF, Save as, and Delete options.
