Configuring Bates Numbering, Applying Bates Numbering, Removing Bates Numbering
Soda PDF provides you the ability to add personalized Bates numbering to your documents. You will need to configure the main options first as these will be applied any time you use the feature. This includes where on the page the numbering will be placed, the font used, etc.
Each time you apply Bates Numbering you will be able customize the specifics for that batch of files.
Configuring the Options
- In the Insert Module choose Options in the Bates Numbering section.
- Use the Custom Text field to update your placeholder text in the preview, type anything into the box.
- Configure the font settings here.
- Move the slider under Opacity to alter the transparency of your numbering.
- Under Rotation you can enter an angle (degree) or click on the A that reflects direction you want to use.
- Toggle the switch under Location to set your numbering in front of or behind your document elements.
- Under Position you can choose where on your page the numbering should be applied, select the appropriate box.
- Under Margin you can configure the margin sizes for your documents, this will shift the location of the boxes for position.
- Toggle the switch under Increase page size to fit Bates number to have Soda PDF automatically update your page size to ensure your numbering is correctly displayed.
You are now ready to apply Bates Numbering.
Applying Bates Numbering.
You do not need to have any files open in order to use Bates Numbering.
- In the Insert Module click on Bates Numbering.
- Choose Add Bates Numbering.
You will need to add the files you would like to number. The numbering will be applied sequentially across the pages of each file.
As an example, you have two files, file A is 10 pages and file B is 3 pages. The numbering of the last page of file A will be 0010 and the first in file B will be 0011.
There are 3 ways you can add files.
- Add Files… will let you browse your computer and choose individual files.
- Add Folders… will let you add all the files in a folder from your computer at once.
- Add Opened Files will instantly add any files you have open in Soda PDF.
- The arrows will let you move the selected files up and down.
- You can remove the selected file with Delete.
The next step is to set up specific conditions for this batch of numbering.
- Click on Bates Numbering.
- Add the Prefix, Suffix and starting number.
- You can preview it next to Output.
- Under Page Range you specify which pages in a document will be numbered. Please note this applies across all of your documents.
At any time, you can update the advanced options for Bates Numbering you previously configured.
- Click on Advanced Settings.
You can decide the output settings for the files you have added Bates Numbering too.
- Click on Saved Files.
- Choose Browse… to choose the file your numbered files will save to.
Under Naming Files you can amend the file names.
- KEEP ORIGINAL will use the names already given to the files.
- ADD TO ORIGINAL will let you add a prefix or suffix to each file.
- REPLACE WITH BATES NUMBERS will swap the file names for the Bates Number(s) assigned to that document.
- Toggle the switch under Existing Files to replace the original files or to create new files.
- Click on APPLY to proceed with numbering your files.
- Click on DONE to close the summary screen.
- In the Insert Module click on Bates Numbering.
- Choose Remove Bates Numbering.
You will need to add the files that need their indexing removed.
There are 3 ways you can add files.
- Add Files… will let you browse your computer and choose individual files.
- Add Folders… will let you add all the files in a folder from your computer at once.
- Add Opened Files will instantly add any files you have open in Soda PDF.
- Clicking on Delete will remove the highlighted file.
- Click on Apply to remove the Bates Numbering.
- You will see a prompt confirming your action, click on Yes.
- Click on DONE to close the summary.
